Why is it that every sales manager wants to ‘have a meeting’ to explain in debth his product/service? Do these people have so much time that they can spend their days running across the country? If a company has the money to send these people outdoors, than the product they’re offering really can’t be cheap can it?

No sales manager will probably bother and read these few rules, they’re the stubborn kind. But it would be great if they do. I definitely would waste less of my time and they would probably too.
· I don’t mind being called by sales managers, they’re here for a reason, live and let live. I’ve stumbled upon some very interesting products, services AND people this way. I always try to have an openmind when someone calls.
· Explain what you’re trying to sell. In as little as 3 sentences I want to know what it is. If it needs more explanation, than you either don’t know what it is yourself or you’re not convinced by what you’re selling and are giving that explanation rather for yourself than for me.
· If you’ve triggered some form of interest, and most of them do, before I plan a meeting, I need information, preferably by e-mail. That information should include pricing. I have a fair knowledge about our company budget, so it’s a waste of time for the both of us if I can’t even pay for it.
· Accept when I’m really not interested. I’ll definitely lose that small portion of interest that I had and I just won’t like you as a person when you keep harassing me.
· Unless it’s totally useless, I’ll always say that it sounds interesting and I’ll keep it in mind for the future. You never know what’s going to happen right? That doesn’t mean you can keep calling me every week.
And for heaven’s sake, if I don’t want it, don’t start calling my colleagues. That’s just plain stupid…
